My yoga practice began in 2002 with Adrian Kettering in Morgantown, WV. After taking classes on and off for a few years, I attended a weekend workshop in 2006 at Amazing Yoga in Pittsburg. This was when I discovered Baptiste style Power Vinyasa Flow and knew I was on the right path. I completed my Level One Journey into Power Teacher Training with Baron Baptiste in 2007 located in New York Catskills, and began teaching yoga shortly thereafter. After taking some time off from teaching yoga to finish my PhD in Human and Community Development, I completed my Level Two Teacher Training with Amazing Yoga in 2013 located in Tulum, MX. I have a Master’s degree in Wellness Management and was instrumental in leading the charges for Morgantown, WV to become a Well City; an award given by the Wellness Councils of America. I was the Director of Wellness at Mon Health System in Morgantown for several years and then became the Director of Community Affairs for the Wellness Councils of America. I landed at West Virginia University where I am an assistant professor in Community Resources Development with Extension Service - a job where I can help people and communities by providing them with leadership and empowerment tools to develop. Through my various jobs, courses and yoga training, I have learned how to facilitate adult learning. I truly believe this is how yoga works; helping people help themselves.
I have taught spinning and pilates and enjoy mountain biking, hiking, cross country and downhill skiing. I simply enjoy the outdoors where I get a sense of freedom and serenity. I love spending time with my husband and yellow lab who remind me of yoga principles every day.
